In the evening of 20 January, a Falcon 10 aircraft, while in the airspace near the border between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, stopped communicating and disappeared from radar screens, Rosaviatsia reported.
According to the agency, the aircraft has Russian registration RA-09011, was manufactured by Dassault Aviation in 1978, serial number 128, and is owned by Athletic Group LLC and a private individual. Previously the aircraft had the following registration numbers: CN-TKN, P4-AVN, N228SJ, N175BC.
There were six people on board the aircraft: four crew members and two passengers. The aircraft was on a chartered sanitary flight from Gaya (India) – Tashkent – Zhukovsky. The original departure point of the aircraft was Thailand’s Utapao airport.
“Rosaviatsia is in contact with the aviation authorities of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Republic of Tajikistan. The search for the aircraft is underway,” the press service of Rosaviatsia said.
It also drew the media’s attention that the Falcon 10 aircraft (registration number RA-09011) is in no way connected to Gazprom avia. “Please do not give out, incorrect information on the air. The machine belongs to Athletic Group LLC and a private person,” the spokesman added.
Added at 14:56 Moscow time. According to the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan, a ground search and rescue team of local specialists is heading from Kabul to the suspected crash site of the Falcon 10 airplane, a helicopter is planned to depart.
Added at 15:53 Moscow time. The plane belongs to Volgodonsk businessman Anatoly Evsyukov, who was on board with his wife Anna. As reported IA Regnum, the Evsyukov family with their son Vitaly went on vacation to Thailand on December 15, 2023 and planned to return home on January 9, but the flight had to be postponed because of Anna’s illness.
The woman was treated in a local clinic, but it did not help – Anna’s internal organs began to fail, she was transferred to a ventilator. As soon as the patient’s condition allowed, she was sent by Falcon airplane to Zhukovsky. Her husband accompanied the woman on the flight, the Russian consulate in Bangkok said.
Shortly before the plane disappeared from radar, the crew reported a fuel shortage and the intention to land in Tajikistan. According to the preliminary version, Falcon 10 fell because of the failure of two engines due to a technical malfunction.
Added at 17:38 Moscow time. According to information from the Russian embassy in Afghanistan, the local ground search and rescue service found the plane. Of the six people on board, four are alive (they have various injuries), the fate of two is being clarified.
Added at 20:15 Moscow time. One of the four survivors of the airplane crash managed to get to the village and ask for help by gestures, Afghanistan International TV channel reported. Igor Syvorotkin, a 26-year-old medical worker, was the youngest of those on board. He was able to explain himself to locals and call relatives.
The survivors were handed over to the Taliban*. This information was confirmed by the spokesman for the governor in Badakhshan, Zabihullah Amiri. The victims are being given the necessary assistance.
