The Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant has completed the technical re-equipment of the production preparation, mechanical assembly and flight test facilities. Completion of the works will ensure an increase in the production of the Tu-214 medium-haul passenger aircraft. This was reported in the United Aircraft Corporation.

The programme for full import substitution at the enterprise has reached a new stage. Conclusions of conformity and commissioning permits have been obtained for nine facilities, including aggregate and final assembly shops. Currently, the readiness of the heat treatment and coatings production facility is 86 per cent.

Konstantin Timofeev, First Deputy Director General of UAC and Managing Director of Tupolev, said that the comprehensive programme for the development of the aviation industry sets a task for Tupolev to increase serial production of the Tu-214. For this purpose it is necessary to expand production capacity as soon as possible. “So far we are on schedule in terms of these indicators, even with some advance in contracting,” Konstantin Timofeev said.

The general contractor of the works is Kazan Giproniaviaprom JSC named after B.I. Tikhomirov. Under the state programme for the development of the defence-industrial complex KazGAP performs capital construction projects at ten facilities of the Kazan aircraft plant for the amount of about 30 billion rubles.

Earlier it became known that the Tu-214 RA-64509 aircraft was restored to airworthiness and flew to Minsk, where it will be painted in the UAC corporate livery at the Civil Aviation Plant No. 407. This aircraft will be used as a flying laboratory for testing a number of assemblies and components of systems and onboard equipment under the full import substitution programme, as well as for modernisation and further development of the Tu-214 platform.
