Kolomna machine-tool enterprise of STAN Holding has launched serial production of CNC gantry machining centers model SK6P200. The equipment is designed for machining parts used in the production of modern civil airplanes.
Five-axis milling machines of SK6P series of modular design allow machining large-size metal workpieces, including wing parts with maximum size up to 24 meters. The machine is capable of performing more than ten operations according to the specified program, including boring, drilling, threading, contour cuts, equidistant machining and others on blanks for structural elements of the aircraft airframe. A distinctive feature of the SK6P is the presence of a movable table that can withstand heavy weight, which allows workpieces to move freely with the machine table.
In October 2024, the Kazan Aircraft Plant launched several SK6P series machines with a 2-meter-wide vacuum table. This equipment will significantly reduce the time of individual stages of the production cycle, which is especially important in the context of increasing production of civilian Tu-214 airplanes. Another similar machining center will be installed at the plant in 2025.
“Machining is performed with a minimum number of part rearrangements due to the use of a fork-type milling head. The machine can be equipped with a laser system of tool control and adjustment with the possibility of measuring the tool length during drilling and threading, a system of tool breakage control, a sensor for controlling the part dimensions with radio transmission of data, as well as a vacuum table that allows the installation of the workpiece without additional fasteners,” said the company.
On October 21, within the framework of the visit of First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to Kazan Aircraft Plant, the SK6P200 machine was demonstrated to the government delegation. Konstantin Timofeev, Managing Director of Tupolev JSC, told the Deputy Prime Minister about plans to complete the modernization of KAZ by the end of 2026, within the framework of which it is planned to increase the production of Tu-214 aircraft up to 20 aircraft per year. To date, nine facilities out of 24 have already been launched, the rest are in varying degrees of readiness.
