Novokuznetsk Novokuznetsk G.A. Nosov International Airport held the first test of passenger service at boarding and on arrival. The passengers were airport employees and journalists, who went through all stages of preparation for departure, including registration, inspection, baggage drop-off and boarding. This was reported in the press service of the Kemerovo region administration.

When going through pre-flight procedures ‘passengers’ filled out special questionnaires. After their processing, the specialists responsible for the launch of the terminal will correct possible patterns of passenger behaviour at arrival and departure. Such testing is a standard procedure in preparation for the transfer of flight services to the new airport building.

The first stage simulated the departure of a Red Wings aircraft from Novokuznetsk to Moscow with 65 passengers on board. The test participants checked in for the flight at three counters, the queue took about 30 minutes. Then they were inspected and boarded through the teletrap gallery into the aircraft, the role of which was performed by Tu-154M RA-85716. Passengers’ luggage was processed, delivered to the aircraft’s baggage compartment and loaded on board using a new belt conveyor.

During the test, the participants filled out a questionnaire with 14 items to assess the accessibility of the airport infrastructure, the convenience of check-in and baggage handling, screening and baggage claim. It is planned to conduct two more test flights in the future, attracting different groups of passengers, including those with low mobility, with children, with animals and other categories.

The new terminal with a total area of 19 thousand square metres is a modern five-storey building equipped with three teletraps, six escalators and 15 lifts. The total investment in the construction of the terminal totalled about 9 billion roubles.
