The Irkutsk Aviation Plant has handed over the next Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft to the Russian Ministry of Defence. The next batches of Yak-130s, which are currently in production, are scheduled for delivery this year.
The Yak-130 developed by the A.S. Yakovlev Design Bureau has been selected as the basic aircraft for basic and advanced training of Russian Air Force pilots. It makes it possible to train pilots of combat aircraft of the 4+ and 5th generation.
The Yak-130 aircraft is the main component of the training complex, which includes an integrated objective control system, computer training rooms, aerobatic and specialised simulators.
“Irkutsk Aircraft Plant fulfils its obligations under the state defence order. Aircraft are being manufactured in accordance with the schedule. The aircraft of the next batches scheduled for delivery this year are in production,” UAC CEO Yury Slyusar said.
The Yak-130 is equipped with two AI-222-25 engines. Earlier, in March 2023, it was reported that the Salyut Production Complex had completed the first tests of a new high-pressure compressor for the upgraded AI-222-25 engine. The improved product has improved mass and dimensional characteristics, simplifies repair and operation of the propulsion system.
