The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates General Directorate of Civil Aviation validated the Mi-171A2 type certificate on March 28, according to the press service of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia).

The receipt of the document is the result of joint work of the Rosaviatsiya and the UAE GCAA within the framework of the working agreement signed on March 15, 2023 on the airworthiness of the Mi-171A2, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding on airworthiness of 29 July 2021.

The validated Mi-171A2 helicopter type certificate opens up additional export prospects for domestic civil helicopters abroad, the Russian agency said.

The Mi-171A2 is a multipurpose heavy-lift helicopter designed by Mil and Kamov Helicopters. It can perform search and rescue, medical and transport operations, extinguish fires or carry passengers.
