According to the press service of United Engine Corporation, a stand has been set up at the ODK-Klimov plant in St. Petersburg for this purpose, where hybrid and electric power units with a capacity of up to 1 MW can be tested in the future.
VK-650V engine is used as a turbogenerator of the 500 kW hybrid propulsion (HPS) demonstrator. This is a promising turboshaft engine that ODK-Klimov has created for domestic light helicopters.
At present, UEC is actively working out alternative applications for HPS: on land and sea transportation platforms, in power engineering, and for urban aeromobility.
