The MC-21 aircraft with registration number 73057 flew from Irkutsk to Ulyanovsk, where it will be painted in UAC’s corporate livery at the Spektr-Avia facility. Flight 73057 will stay in Ulyanovsk until the beginning of August.

Earlier this aircraft had registration 73361. It was assumed that after the replacement of imported components the aircraft will take to the skies and join the certification test programme not earlier than April 2024. In July, the aircraft performed three flights: on the 8th, 15th and 18th. The two last flights were performed with a new registration number. 18 July – to Ulyanovsk.

Aircraft 73361 (s/n MS.0013) – a machine of standard design MC-21-300, the first serial aircraft. The airliner’s wing is made of Russian polymer-composite materials, powerplant – two geared PW1400G TPDs. The airliner was intended for delivery to a Russian airline and therefore received a commercial aircraft registration number. After the replacement of some imported components, the machine could not be considered as a standard one and received the status of experimental, as a result of which it was re-registered.

On 27 October 2022, during the International Engine Building Forum, Irkut Corporation Deputy General Director Anatoly Gaidansky said that this particular aircraft will be produced with fully domestic components, including the replacement of American engines with Russian ones. However, so far the engines have not been changed on this aircraft.
