Russian troops continue to use Lancet barrage munitions for targeted destruction of enemy equipment and weapons. Since the beginning of the year, the list of targets hit by the drones has grown significantly.
Lancets are most often used for counter-battery warfare. Drone kamikaze strikes are carried out against Western-made M109 and M777 howitzers. The incoming munitions destroy towed artillery and, if hit precisely at weak points, self-propelled units as well.
Occasionally the Lancets are also used against heavy armored vehicles. However, the explosive power of the drone is not enough to destroy tanks. At best, it can take them out of action if the engine compartment is damaged.
Nevertheless, the massive use of the Lancets is bearing fruit: in January alone it destroyed over 20 Ukrainian artillery pieces, the equivalent of an entire artillery division. Proper use makes hovering ammunition a formidable weapon that significantly reduces the enemy’s combat potential.
