As part of priority measures, construction of a new building for the Machine Tooling and Moulds Shop (No. 232) and the Mechanisation and Automation Department (No. 320) continues at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant (IAZ). Erection of the new building is one of the stages of the project of technical re-equipment of the aggregate assembly production.

The new building with an area of about 13,000 square metres will include equipment and tool areas as well as laboratories. Construction work is now nearing completion and the building is expected to be ready for use this summer. “In the new building, the thermal circuit has already been closed, the foundation for equipment installation has been assembled, and the formation of offices and technical rooms has been completed,” the “Russian Aviation website was told in the “Notes of Aircraft Builders” telegram channel.

After the relocation of shop No. 232 and department No. 320 to the new building, the vacated areas of the engineering building will be reconstructed. In particular, there will be additional production areas for the additional assembly of the wing cantilever part and assembly of the MC-21 compartments.

The programme of technical re-equipment of IAZ is aimed at improving production efficiency and increasing aircraft production volumes. It envisages modernisation of process equipment, introduction of new production technologies, construction and reconstruction of production and auxiliary buildings.
