Kalashnikov Concern, the main supplier of combat equipment to the Russian Armed Forces, has included the Karakurt drone in the third-generation Legionnaire combat equipment under development. The drone is currently being tested in the NWO area, the concern’s press service said.

According to the feedback from the operators, the tactical and technical characteristics of Karakurt provide high awareness of the serviceman on the battlefield and, consequently, the speed of his decision-making in the conditions of combat operations, including in the zone of combat operations.

Karakurt is a mini reconnaissance UAV with the ability to conduct aerial reconnaissance with real-time data transmission. The special feature of the reconnaissance drone is manoeuvrability of launching it in limited space conditions from a compact transport and launch container (tube).

‘Our main task is to preserve the fighter’s life and facilitate his work at the front. The use of a lightweight mini-UAV in the equipment, which can be launched literally from the hand, will make it easier for servicemen to conduct reconnaissance and keep them safe during combat,’ Alan Lushnikov, president of JSC Concern Kalashnikov, said during its presentation to journalists.
