Sheremetyevo International Airport has identified 69 potential artificial intelligence applications across its operations, with 47 initiatives developed to a stage suitable for further implementation.

The initiatives were developed by airport staff with experts from Russia’s Sber during an AI-focused programme held in July and August 2026. Teams analysed airport processes, identified areas where AI could deliver measurable improvements and built prototypes using Sber’s GigaCowork platform for developing AI agents.

The proposed applications cover operational and support functions. These include analysis of the causes of flight delays, video analytics for passenger flows and production processes, predictive maintenance of engineering equipment, automated verification of documents and data, and AI support for procurement and contract management.

Passenger-facing applications are also under consideration. These include advance notifications of potential schedule changes, automation of selected service processes and AI-assisted information services. For airport personnel, proposed applications include agents supporting work with documents, regulations, procurement and contracts, as well as speech analytics for staff support and training.

Sheremetyevo said the next stage will focus on prioritising the initiatives, assessing their economic impact and selecting projects for pilot deployment. The airport and Sber also intend to develop a common technology architecture to support wider deployment of AI applications across airport operations.
