In accordance with its import substitution plans, Rossiya Airlines, as the largest operator of Superjet 100 aircraft, has begun a phased replacement of foreign-made tires and operation of domestic tires on aircraft of this type, the airline’s press service said.

The first Superjets from the fleet of the carrier equipped with domestic tires are already flying on the route network of Rossiya. The supplier of the kits is the largest Russian developer and producer of tires for airplanes, helicopters and ground equipment YashZ Avia.

“The first batch of 73 tires has now arrived at the warehouse. Two aircrafts Superjet 100, fully equipped with domestic tires, began to carry passengers throughout the route network of the airline. The aircraft use tires from a single supplier. Earlier Rossiya airlines used foreign aviation tires, production and import of which was stopped in our country,” the journalists were informed by the airline’s press-service.

Modern passenger airplanes use tires made of a mixture of natural and synthetic rubber with reinforced layers of steel cord. The longitudinal pattern is necessary to minimize the effect of aquaplaning and keep the aircraft on the runway during rainfall.

Tubeless radial tires 1070x390R480, model 4A, 14.2 bar, are used on SSJ100 aircrafts, the airline specified.
