Vnukovo International Airport has put into operation a system of electronic boarding passes on all flights – both domestic and international. Previously, an electronic boarding pass could be used to board flights departing from Vnukovo only on domestic routes, such a service was introduced on 1 June 2019, the airport’s press service said.
The functioning of the system is ensured by a centralised electronic database, as well as a network of barcode scanners that read information from the screens of passengers’ mobile devices or from a traditional paper carrier.
‘Electronic boarding passes contain all the necessary information about the passenger and the flight, they fully correspond to paper passes: ticket number, passenger data, departure and arrival airports, flight number, date and time of departure and arrival, information about the fare and additional services. After online check-in, the system sends a PDF file to the passenger’s specified e-mail address,’ the Vnukovo representative said.
The press service explained that the received file should be saved on your mobile device. When passing through the inspection, passport control and before boarding to check the boarding pass to apply the smartphone screen with the bar code visible on it to the scanning device. The electronic boarding pass must also be presented on request to the flight attendants on board the aircraft.
For passengers who are unable to use an electronic boarding pass, a paper copy is still available. Paper boarding passes can be printed at check-in counters or at specialised self-service devices located in the terminal building.
