Ka-27 crews practised the destruction of moving sea targets in the Black Sea

Crews of Ka-27 helicopters of the Black Sea Fleet’s deck aviation carried out air patrols over the Black Sea waters and practised the destruction of unmanned drone boats, the Russian Defence Ministry’s Department of Information and Mass Communications said.

“The crew of Ka-27 helicopter from a separate mixed aviation regiment of the Black Sea Fleet performed practical flights from the deck of the patrol ship Dmitry Rogachev in the course of fulfilling the tasks of patrolling the Black Sea waters and protecting civilian vessels on the routes of intensive commercial shipping from threats from Ukraine,” the message reads.

In accordance with the flight task, helicopter pilots of the Black Sea Fleet Naval Aviation inspected the water area of about 50 square kilometres. In co-operation with the crew of the patrol ship they practiced take-offs and landings on the deck of the ship on the move.

At the same time, in order to check the coherence of all systems of the ship’s aviation complex, the ship’s crews were trained to ensure helicopter flights. In addition to patrolling the designated areas of the Black Sea, the helicopter crew practised firing a machine gun at a moving marine target.
