Russia is showcasing the export-configured Su-57E fifth-generation fighter alongside new air-launched weapons at the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, with the aircraft also taking part in the flying display.
The Su-57E is being presented with a range of air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons, including the RVV-MD2 and RVV-BD air-to-air missiles, Kh-38MLE, Kh-69 and Kh-58UShKE missiles. Russia is also displaying the S-71M and S-71K low-observable unmanned platforms developed for use with fifth-generation fighters.
A further addition to the weapons display is the Dan-T rocket-powered loitering munition. Rostec describes the weapon as a fire-and-forget system compatible with both Russian and foreign aircraft and helicopters, with an engagement range extending to hundreds of kilometres.
The Su-57E displayed at El Alamein is the ninth T-50 prototype, bearing bort number 509. The aircraft is scheduled to participate in the flying programme throughout the 8–10 September airshow. On 8 September, Sukhoi test pilot Sergey Bogdan demonstrated high-alpha and post-stall manoeuvres, highlighting the fighter’s thrust-vectoring capability.
The aircraft has a stated maximum take-off weight of 35,000 kg, maximum speed of 2,600 km/h, service ceiling of 20,000 m and combat radius of about 1,500 km. Its sensor suite includes an active electronically scanned array radar and an electro-optical detection system.
Russia is using the Egyptian exhibition to promote the Su-57E as an export platform while highlighting weapons and unmanned systems intended for integration with fifth-generation fighters. Rostec has also highlighted the AL-41F1 engine’s performance during extreme manoeuvres, including flight regimes approaching zero forward speed and brief hovering at the top of a vertical manoeuvre.
The El Alamein airshow has attracted delegations from more than 80 countries. The US is also participating, with an exhibition involving more than 25 companies and F-16, F-15E, A-10 and C-130 aircraft.
