The Lancet barrage munitions have been upgraded based on the experience of use during the special operation in Ukraine, including a more powerful warhead, RIA Novosti reported, citing an informed source.
The Lancet kamikaze drone was developed by ZALA AERO. Two existing versions of the munition are reported: “Izdeliye-52” with paired X-shaped plumage and a larger one with one large X-shaped wing and smaller tail, designated as “Izdeliye-51”. Depending on the mission, the drone can be equipped with one of three types of warheads – shaped charge, high-explosive or thermobaric.
“The base version of the drone, the Product-52, which is equipped with a double X-tip, has been substantially upgraded based on experience during the SSO. In particular, the drone received a new opto-electronic guidance system and a control system with new software and improved controllability,” the interlocutor said.
He also said that “the borne ammunition has received a more powerful warhead, which makes it possible to hit typical targets for a drone – howitzers, tanks, armored vehicles, radars, SAMs and human force of the enemy.
The source added that as a result, the Russian Armed Forces currently have two types of “Izdeliye-52” with a smaller and larger warhead and an improved control and guidance system, which allows for greater flexibility in the use of kamikaze drones depending on the tactical situation.
