In August 2022, Rostec State Corporation summarized the results of the Design Act 2022 industrial design contest, showing the MC-21 aircraft in a renewed livery presented by one of the contest winners.

Our website pointed out at the time that the proposed design of the plane’s livery did not show a systematic approach to the rebranding that the United Aircraft Corporation had undertaken. Besides, it did not look professional, the chosen primary color and its distribution over the airframe made the livery look heavy, and the MC-21 itself looked untidy.

We noted then that the contestants did not see the main thing – the UAC lack of a unified approach to the styling of all prototypes that in the near future will form the basis of the Russian civil aviation, and this is not only MC-21, but also SSJ-New, IL-114-300, aircraft Ladoga and Baikal. The single style of all Boeing and Airbus prototypes was cited as an example.

It must be commended to the UAC that the corporation continues to consistently go to a single corporate style for all its enterprises and organizations, and is preparing to show at MAKS-2023 the two most anticipated Russian aircraft in the new livery. The press service said that painting of the planes has begun at the Spektr-Avia enterprise in Ulyanovsk.

“At the MAKS air show we plan to present a single livery for UAC civil aircraft. The first to try it on will be our flagships in the segments of regional and long-haul aircraft – Superjet 100 and MC-21,” UAC said.

A representative of the corporation added that the livery will be designed in accordance with the updated corporate style of UAC. “In addition, we want to create a single look for all pilot aircraft of the UAC Civil Aviation Division,” he explained.
