The Wings India international airshow opened in Hyderabad on January 28, featuring the first overseas public presentation of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100, tail number 97024) and the Il-114-300 (tail number 54116). The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) also showcased a VIP-configured SSJ100 AURUS (tail number 89152).
Attendees had the opportunity to tour passenger cabins and flight decks, evaluating cockpit ergonomics and the integration of onboard systems. The exhibition was visited by Indian Minister of Civil Aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, and Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Gennady Abramenkov, who presented the aircraft. On the first day, the Il-114-300 conducted a 1 hour and 35-minute demonstration flight.
UAC possesses the resources and technical expertise to establish a lasting presence in the Indian civil aviation market. Russian Trade Representative in India, Andrey Sobolev, highlighted India’s high domestic passenger traffic and its strategic importance in the global aviation market.
According to Sobolev, “UAC has the capabilities to strengthen its position in India’s civil aviation sector. India ranks fifth globally in domestic passenger traffic and its market is projected to grow from approximately $14.8 billion in 2025 to around $26.1 billion by 2030, making it the third-largest market in the world by volume. These factors create favorable conditions for cooperation with Russian manufacturers.”
The Wings India exhibition and demonstration flights underscore Russian aircraft readiness for international sales programs and the adaptability of Russian platforms to meet foreign operator requirements.
