Commercial operation of a 19-seat turboprop aircraft, which will be jointly developed by Russia and Belarus, will begin in 2028, in 2027 it is planned to complete its certification. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov on the sidelines of the Innoprom-2023 exhibition in Yekaterinburg.
“2027 is the certification of this aircraft. From 2028 – commercial operation,” TASS quoted him as saying. Manturov specified that the Ural Civil Aviation Plant and the Belarusian 558th Aviation Repair Plant will be involved in the creation of the liner.
On the eve of the exhibition in Yekaterinburg, representatives of the State Military-Industrial Committee (Goskomvoenprom) of Belarus and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation signed an interdepartmental programme that envisages joint development and organisation of serial production of a multi-purpose passenger aircraft in Belarus.
Earlier, at the HeliRussia-2023 exhibition, Oleg Bocharov said that Russia and Belarus will develop and produce an aircraft with non-retractable landing gear. The main priority is to limit the cost of flight hours and production costs. According to him, the VK-800 engine will be used as part of the new aircraft’s propulsion system, while the onboard equipment will be a complex developed by KRET in 2019.
