About 280 billion rubles will be allocated from the National Welfare Fund (NWF) for MC-21 and 41.8 billion rubles for Tu-214, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told TASS.
“Funds from the NWF are allocated to large technological or infrastructure projects. These are aircraft and shipbuilding, the Moscow-Kazan highway (M12), the Central Transport Hub, leasing of domestic aircraft. That is, the money from the National Wealth Fund is used for economic development, for projects that are most important for the technological independence of the country,” said the head of the Ministry of Finance, responding to a journalist’s question about the financing of large-scale projects from the Fund.
The finance minister was also asked how he felt about the MC-21 aeroplane.
“It is excellent. Not worse than the best Western analogues. Good noise insulation, comfortable cabin, ergonomic domestic seats. The cockpit is modern,” Anton Siluanov noted.
He added that the upgraded Tu-214 will also be as efficient as Boeing and Airbus. “I would like these aircraft to fly with passengers on regular flight routes sooner,” he said.
