The Russian-Belarusian LMS-192 “Osvey” aircraft project has entered the interstate coordination phase, with Belarusian specialists currently reviewing the technical specifications. Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov announced this development to journalists.

According to the minister, the Russian side has completed development of all technical parameters for the project. “We now await a positive assessment from our Belarusian partners. Once we receive their approval, we can proceed with developing the detailed design documentation,” the minister stated in response to a related question.

The “Osvey” project represents a joint Russian-Belarusian initiative to develop a new 19-seat twin-engine turboprop aircraft designed for regional operations. The Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UCAP) leads the aircraft development effort. Approval of the aircraft parameters by Belarusian experts constitutes a mandatory requirement before proceeding to the actual aircraft design phase.

The program, initiated and signed in 2023-2024, envisions serial production in Belarus with participation from UCAP and the Belarusian 558th Aircraft Maintenance Plant in Bobruisk. The development timeline calls for prototype completion in 2026, with airline deliveries beginning in 2027.

Belarusian approval will ensure alignment of the aircraft’s technical and economic characteristics. Without this endorsement, detailed design documentation development cannot commence. This documentation encompasses drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes essential for production. This phase marks the transition from conceptual design to practical implementation. A positive assessment will enable the active development phase and subsequent prototype manufacturing to begin.
