The Tu-214 RA-64509 aircraft arrived in Belarus on 19 June, where it is to be repainted in the corporate livery of the United Aircraft Corporation. Now the livery of the bankrupt carrier is partially preserved on the former aircraft of Transaero Airlines, while the new livery will be received at Minsk Civil Aviation Plant № 407. This was reported in the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Belarus.
The agreement to paint the aircraft was reached during the visit of Vladimir Pekarsky, general director of Minsk plant, to Kazan in January 2023. “At Plant No. 407 in Minsk, the aircraft will be painted using modern Russian enamels in accordance with the corporate identity of the United Aircraft Corporation. The new painting complex, where the work will be carried out, started its operation in April 2024 and has already been certified by the Federal Air Transport Agency for servicing Tu-214 aircraft,” the Ministry of Transport of Belarus said.
Konstantin Timofeev, Managing Director of Tupolev JSC, who arrived in Minsk as a member of the flight crew, stressed the importance of long-term partnership with Minsk Plant No. 407 and noted a new stage of cooperation related to the Tu-214, against the background of many years of work and experience gained in the repair and modernisation of Tu-134 aircraft. Tupolev plans to expand co-operation ties with Belarusian partners, which envisages not only aircraft painting, but also production of certain components and parts in Belarus.
After painting is completed, the aircraft will undergo retrofitting, including replacement of imported components with domestic ones. This aircraft will be used as a flying laboratory for testing a number of assemblies and components of systems and onboard equipment under the full import substitution programme, as well as for modernisation and further development of the Tu-214 platform.
