Specifics on the model, financing and capacity of the airplane, which Russia and Belarus plan to jointly create, may appear by the end of this year. This was stated by Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in Russia Dmitry Krutoy after his talks with Governor of Yaroslavl region Mikhail Evraev, BelTA informs.
Dmitry Krutoy noted that the governments of Belarus and Russia have already signed a large program of joint actions to develop aircraft building. “So far, two of our enterprises will participate as cooperators, suppliers of components in Russian projects, these are mainly MS-21 and Superjet,” he said.
“Regarding the civil airplane that will be directly produced in Belarus: as of today, design work has begun. It’s too early to talk definitively about the model, the amount of funding and even the capacity of this airplane. By the end of the year, this experimental, let’s say, design work will be carried out, and then there will be some specifics,” said the Ambassador.
The issue of creation and production of the Belarusian-Russian passenger airplane is at the stage of intergovernmental coordination, said chief engineer of the enterprise 558th aircraft repair plant Andrei Tuchin, located in Baranovichi, Brest voblast, on air of the TV channel STV.
“This year the elaboration of the issue has been started, now it is at the stage of intergovernmental coordination. As soon as the decision on financing of the project is made, I think that already this year, work will proceed at a faster pace. But without even waiting for the decision, our company is working out all the technical aspects with our Russian partner,” he said.
According to him, over the past year Baranovichi Aircraft Repair Enterprise has received orders for thousands of parts. At present, the company is working out contracts for Tu-214, MS-21, SJ-100, IL-76MD-90A airplanes.
August 11, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting with labor collectives of organizations located at the National Airport of Minsk did not rule out the possibility of creating civil aircraft production in the country and said he would be happy if Belarus builds passenger planes.
“We will do everything to support the directions of repair and maintenance, or maybe creation, construction of our own airplanes. We will promote that. We have two such large sites: a military plant in Baranovichi and a civilian plant here. […] Having created the production of passenger cars, I have such a crazy thought, if I manage to start this during my presidency, if we manage to turn around and produce our own aircraft, I will be happy. So my new dream could come true. I have such a crazy idea to deepen the production of civil aircrafts,” said the President of Belarus before the staff of Minsk airport.
