In the special economic zone (SEZ) Togliatti the company Transport of the Future has launched the first stage of a plant for the production of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). This is the first enterprise in Russia that will assemble domestic UAS designed for monitoring and delivery, as well as for use in agriculture, the company’s press service reported.

The agreement on the creation of the production was signed by the Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov and CEO of Transport of the Future LLC Yuri Kozarenko on the margins of SPIEF-2023 in June this year. To date, the company has already invested more than three billion roubles in the development of ABC models and the creation of the necessary infrastructure in Togliatti. The company plans to launch the second and third phases of the plant by July and December 2024, respectively. The production site will produce a total of seven drone models, as well as key UAS components such as propellers, motors, drivers and flight controllers. The total investment in the project is more than 7 billion roubles.

Yury Kozarenko explained that the UAS cluster in the Samara region will cover the entire chain of introducing unmanned aircraft systems into various industries and national economy sectors, including development and production of components, certification, testing, development of commercial applications, as well as service and maintenance of UAS. “In addition, mobile complexes for ground maintenance of agrodrones and a system for the safe use of drones inside transport corridors have been developed,” the Transport of the Future CEO added.

The first phase of the plant will specialise in the production of Hector S-80 model agrodrones. In addition, the plant will become a training and competence centre for precision agriculture using drones. Agrodrones are the most in-demand UAV models today, and Transport of the Future is working with partners from agriculture to create drones that take into account the experience of working in the field. As part of the Drone-Service project, the company plans to start using drones manufactured in Togliatti to cultivate fields in the Samara region as early as spring 2024. The company plans to produce more than 1.5 thousand agrodrones and other types of UAS with a mass of more than 10kg by the end of 2024.
