Starting December 26, 2023, Aeroflot will launch additional flights on the route Moscow – Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Moscow. The flights will be operated by Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The increase in frequency is due to the seasonal growth of passenger traffic during the New Year holidays and is aimed at meeting the increased demand for air transportation in this direction. This was reported in the press-service of the Sakhalin airport.
To perform these flights Aeroflot will apply the scheme of wet leasing for the first time in its practice. On November 30, 2024, the airline entered into an agreement with Russian air carrier iFLY to lease three wide-body Airbus A330-300 aircraft together with flight and cabin crews. The aircraft will be used by Aeroflot on Far Eastern routes.
The schedule of additional flights provides for increased frequency of flights in the period from December 26 to December 30 of the outgoing year and from January 7 to January 14, 2025. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport will receive up to three flights a day on the Moscow – Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Moscow route on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday – two flights each.
In addition to increasing the number of flights on the main route Moscow – Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, from December 20, 2023 Aeroflot introduced an additional transit flight on Fridays via Krasnoyarsk. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport in the winter season of 2024-2025 and expanded the range of services provided, including equipping the passenger terminal with racks for ski equipment and organizing the delivery of sports equipment to hotels.
