Dmitry Yadrov, head of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), outlined the planned certification timelines for three Russian passenger aircraft at a Ministry of Transport board meeting, according to TASS.
The Il-114-300 is expected to receive its type certificate in May 2026. The SJ-100 is scheduled for July, while certification of its PD-8 engine is planned for April 2026. The medium-range MC-21 is slated for certification in October of this year.
In May 2025, Anatoly Gaidansky, Deputy CEO and Director of the Engineering Center at PJSC Yakovlev, stated that the certification of the MC-21-310 and approval of the major design changes (MDAs) are expected by the end of summer 2026. Following MDA approval, approximately three months will be required to organize serial deliveries and crew training.
The Il-114-300 has completed its main certification flights and is now in the final stage, undergoing natural icing tests. Its type certification is expected within the coming months. Earlier, Sergei Chemezov, head of Rostec, had projected certification completion in early 2026, but the official date is now set for May.
The SJ-100 and MC-21-310 are being certified in fully import-substituted configurations. Current flight tests focus on evaluating the effectiveness of the aircraft anti-icing systems. Tests are conducted over the airspace of the Arkhangelsk and Murmansk regions.
The officially announced certification schedules indicate that the Il-114-300, SJ-100, and MC-21 are nearly ready for commercial operations. All three aircraft have completed import substitution and are in serial production: the Il-114-300 in Lukhovitsy, the SJ-100 in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, and the MC-21 in Irkutsk. Type certification will enable regular deliveries to customers and integration into commercial airline fleets.
