The Energomash Research and Production Association named after Academician Glushko handed over to the United Engine Corporation the first of six prototypes of the combustion chamber for the PD-8 engine. The product was received by the UEC delegation headed by Alexander Inozemtsev, Managing Director – General Designer of UEC-Aviaadvigatel JSC. This was reported by the press service of NPO Energomash JSC.

Production of the key component of a modern gas turbine engine – the combustion chamber – was mastered at the company in less than a year. All NPO Energomash services were involved in this new order, starting with engineers and metrology specialists, the main production units, and finishing with logistics and procurement.

“We have done a lot of work on one of the key elements of the PD-8 aircraft engine. This is an absolutely new task for Energomash – we have never produced such a serious finished unit for the aviation industry in the recent history of the company. 80 years ago Plant 456, which later became NPO Energomash, repaired aircraft for the front line, so now we can say that a new turn has been taken,” commented Igor Arbuzov, General Director of NPO Energomash JSC, on the transfer of the combustion chamber to UEC.

On February 2, 2023, Energomash received a license from the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade to design, manufacture, test and repair aircraft. It is required as part of the work under the existing agreement with ODK for production of combustion chambers for PD-8 aircraft engines for SSJ-New and Be-200 aircraft.
