Rossiya Airlines has launched direct flights from Moscow to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The first flight departed from Sheremetyevo Airport on 26 December 2023 at 23:45. The flights will be operated four times a week on wide-body Boeing 777-300ER airliners with a total capacity of 457 passengers. This was reported by the carrier’s press service.
Sri Lanka is an island country in the Indian Ocean, which is famous for its rich history, picturesque nature and unique culture. Winter season is considered to be the best time to visit Sri Lanka, as at this time of the year the weather is warm and dry, and the air and water temperature fluctuates around 25-30 degrees Celsius.
Tourists in Sri Lanka can enjoy a wide variety of activities. You can visit ancient Buddhist temples and ruins of ancient cities, go surfing or diving in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean, go on an excursion to the Yala National Park, where you can see elephants, leopards and other wild animals, or just relax on one of the many beaches of the island.
The B777 long-haul wide-body airliners in the Russian fleet have a cabin layout for 457 people: 426 seats in Economy Class and 21 in Business Class. With the planned flight frequency, this will meet the demand for air travel to Sri Lanka and help maintain a high level of tourist passenger traffic. Previously, Rossiya operated direct scheduled flights to Colombo from 2018, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, air services between the Russian Federation and Sri Lanka were suspended.
Rossiya flights from Moscow to Colombo operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Departure from Moscow at 23:45, arrival in Colombo at 10:30 the next day. Departing Colombo at 12:10, arriving in Moscow at 18:35 on Wednesdays, 18:55 on Mondays and Fridays and 19:15 on Sundays.
