Russia has taken delivery of another batch of Su-35S fighters, continuing a steady production run of the heavyweight multirole aircraft for the country’s Aerospace Forces.

State-owned United Aircraft Corporation said the aircraft had completed acceptance testing before entering operational service with the Russian military. The company did not disclose how many fighters were included in the latest transfer. It marks the second publicly announced Su-35S delivery of 2026 following an earlier handover in April.

The Su-35S remains one of Russia’s primary high-end tactical combat aircraft and has been used extensively throughout the war in Ukraine. The twin-engine fighter is employed in long-range air patrol, escort and strike support missions, as well as counter-air operations against Ukrainian aircraft and unmanned systems.

Russian military officials have also described the aircraft as a platform for reconnaissance and precision strike missions against ground and maritime targets. The fighter is designed for extended-range engagements and operates as part of Russia’s broader tactical aviation fleet alongside Su-30SM and Su-57 aircraft.

Production of the Su-35S continues at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant in Russia’s Far East. Industry estimates suggest the Russian Aerospace Forces received between 17 and 20 aircraft in 2025, delivered across multiple production batches.

Open-source assessments place the operational Su-35S fleet at roughly 155 aircraft following deliveries completed through 2025, up from an estimated 135 fighters a year earlier. The continued production tempo indicates the type remains a priority program for Russia’s tactical aviation forces despite the parallel expansion of Su-57 procurement.
