The first TVS-2MS aircraft for SibAeroCraft has been upgraded and is being prepared for handover to the flight-testing complex. On the second aircraft in the hangar at the airfield Mochische near Novosibirsk completes the assembly. This is what the press service of Rusaviaprom Ltd. reports.

Altogether the regional air carrier is planning to modernize four An-2s into the TVS-2MS version and to use them for passenger transportation within the Tomsk Region. About the choice of aircrafts TVS-2MS for the revival of regional aviation in the Tomsk region and in West Siberian region Mikhail Grebennikov, Deputy Director General of SibAeroCraft, told.

According to his words when considering the question what aircraft to use for revival of regional aviation and after market research the company realized that now the main aircraft for local air lines is either An-2, or its upgraded version TVS-2MS.

TVS-2MS aircraft is equipped with an engine of foreign production and allows to reduce the cost of flight time when performing aviation works and transporting passengers.

“We hope,” says Mikhail Grebennikov, “that these planes will give people the opportunity to fly to remote settlements. Fly to Sheregesh for skiing, to Gorny Altai. Because today there is no one to perform this role except small aircraft”.

The main difference of TVS-2MS from the original is the use of the turboprop American engine Honeywell TRE-331-12. The main task of modernization was the transition from gasoline B-91 and its analogues to kerosene TS-1, due to which the operating costs are significantly reduced. Due to the lack of modern economical and light engine in Russia, it was decided to install on AN-2 instead of piston ASh-62IR imported propulsion system.
