On 4 March 2024 at the airfield of Lukhovitsky Aviation Plant (LAZ) named after P.A. Voronin the preparation of the second experimental aircraft IL-114-300 (s/n 0110) for the first flight started, taxiing and jogging of the aircraft were performed. This became known to the magazine Vzlyot.

The construction of the IL-114-300 prototype aircraft with serial number 0110 was completed in May 2023. The first prototype aircraft s/n 0108 was built in Zhukovsky at the production site of PJSC IL in 2020, where it performed its first flight in December of the same year. The aircraft was built from the stock remaining from 1994 at the Tashkent Aviation Plant named after Valery Chkalov (TAPOiCh). The aircraft received new engine TV7-117ST-01, six-blade propeller AV-112-114, auxiliary propulsion system TA14-114, modernised digital piloting and navigation system, and a number of other onboard systems.

Intensive certification flights of the upgraded version of the aircraft took place in spring-summer 2021. In July, IL-114-300 (s/n 0108) took part in the flight programme of MAKS-2021 air show. However, after the crash of the IL-112B experimental light military transport aircraft, flight tests of the IL-114-300 were cancelled, as both aircraft used the same engine of the TV7-117ST range. The resumption of IL-114-300 flights was postponed several times, even though UEC announced that the TV7-117ST-01 engine was ready for flight testing.

“The transfer to flight testing of the second IL-114-300 prototype (No. 0110), the first new-built aircraft to be assembled at Lukhovitsky Aircraft Plant since 2020, which was initially announced for autumn 2020 and then postponed to 2021 and later to December 2022, was also postponed,” the editorial office of Vzlyot noted.

The TV7-117ST-01 engine for the IL-114-300 was certified by Rosaviatsia at the end of December 2022, then in May 2023 the agency said it had approved the removal of a number of restrictions on its operating range in terms of speed and flight altitude. At the end of June, Vsevolod Eliseev, general designer of ODK-Klimov, said that two engines are already on the wing of the prototype IL-114-300, which is “being prepared for flight and certification tests”, while six more are being finalised after the first stage of testing” and are due for delivery by the end of 2023.
