A Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100), registration RA-89066 (MSN 95061), has been returned to the fleet of Russia’s EMERCOM Aviation Rescue Company following a comprehensive restoration program completed between December 2024 and December 2025.
The work was performed by the maintenance and technical division of Yakovlev’s Regional Aircraft branch, in coordination with the operator’s engineering personnel. The scope of work included airframe repair, replacement of failed components, renewal of aircraft wiring systems, and restoration of corrosion protection and exterior coatings.
Following completion of ground activities, the aircraft underwent a post-maintenance functional check flight to verify system performance. The overall refurbishment program was aimed at restoring full airworthiness and ensuring reliable continued operations.
Within EMERCOM service, SSJ100 aircraft are configured for medical evacuation missions, onboard medical support, and rapid transport from emergency zones. The aircraft is equipped with medical modules enabling patient transport under physician supervision. Its cabin layout supports up to 55 occupants and can be rapidly reconfigured for mission-specific requirements.
SSJ100 captain Dmitry Korolev noted that, compared with the Ilyushin Il-76, the Superjet is better suited for evacuation of smaller groups and can operate from airports with limited infrastructure. Under certain payload conditions, it also offers significantly lower operating costs.
Aircraft RA-89066 is named after fighter pilot Alexei Maresyev and has been in service since 2014. According to United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), the aircraft has completed 1,429 flights and accumulated 2,578 flight hours over its operational life.
