The document was signed by the CEO of Aeroflot Sergey Aleksandrovsky and the President of Conviasa, Venezuelan Transport Minister Ramon Velasquez, the press service of Aeroflot reported.

The memorandum provides for cooperation between the air carriers and the expansion of international air travel between Russia and the Caribbean. At the first stage, the airlines plan to jointly develop traffic between Russia, Venezuela and Cuba.

On June 18, Conviasa will launch scheduled Caracas-Havana-Moscow flights on wide-body Airbus A340-200 jets. “Aeroflot, for its part, starts regular flights to Varadero from July 1.

An “interline” agreement with direct settlement between the companies is planned to be concluded in the near future, which will enable passengers with tickets issued by both Aeroflot and Conviasa to travel to Cuba and Venezuela. In the future, Aeroflot and Conviasa intend to conclude a codeshare agreement (free sale), which involves the joint operation of flights. Flights will be operated under a common code and passengers will be able to use the bonus programmes of both airlines.
