Aeroflot has successfully completed an audit by the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) and obtained a certification equivalent to the U.S. Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 145. This certification allows the airline to perform in-house maintenance and repair of CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines, along with their components.
To support these maintenance operations, Aeroflot established the MRO facility “AeroTrustTechnics” at Sheremetyevo International Airport (SVO). The facility is fully equipped with modern tooling and materials, and staff have undergone specialized training to service these advanced foreign-made engines.

Under the FAR-145 equivalent certification, Aeroflot technicians are authorized to perform a wide range of repairs, including high-pressure compressor rotor and stator restoration, high-pressure turbine maintenance, and replacement of low-pressure turbine and compressor modules.
The CFM56-7B engines power Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft, while CFM56-5B engines are used on Airbus A320ceo aircraft. Aeroflot’s fleet includes 93 Boeing 737NGs and 110 Airbus A320ceos, and the new certification enables the airline to carry out maintenance independently, reducing reliance on external service providers.
The Aeroflot Group, which includes Aeroflot, Rossiya Airlines, and Pobeda Airlines, is the largest airline group in Russia. In 2024, it transported 30.1 million passengers, with total group traffic reaching 55.3 million. The airline actively supports domestic aircraft manufacturing and plans to acquire 339 Russian-built aircraft to expand its route network.
“Developing in-house maintenance capabilities improves operational efficiency, reduces dependency on third-party providers, and ensures high standards of flight safety. It allows us to optimize turnaround times and maintain the readiness of our fleet,” Aeroflot said.
The FAR-145 equivalent certification highlights Aeroflot’s compliance with international maintenance standards. With skilled personnel and advanced facilities, the airline is well-positioned to service Boeing and Airbus aircraft in its fleet efficiently and reliably.
