Aeroflot received the FAP-21J aircraft developer certificate with extended powers. The document allows the development of modifications of aircraft components and the performance of non-standard aircraft repairs.
Under the approval Aeroflot obtained the right to carry out the development of documentation for non-standard repairs of aircraft structures, cabin modifications, systems and power units, as well as the development of a significant list of Class III components, which include elements of the interior, domestic equipment, etc.
During the certification audit the representatives of Rosaviatsia and AviaRegister conducted a principal assessment of Aeroflot in the direction of the developer, checked the professional knowledge and skills of the employees, confirmed the compliance of processes and internal regulatory documents of the airline with the requirements of FAP 21J and aviation legislation of the Russian Federation in general.
Aeroflot’s new capabilities together with the existing competences of its subsidiary Aeroflot Technics, which holds FAP-21J and FAP-285 certificates, will allow to significantly increase the level and extend the scope of design and technological support of aircraft operations. Thus, within Aeroflot Group, the full cycle of maintaining the airworthiness of the aircraft fleet is ensured – from the development and certification of the required repair and modification solutions to the performance of maintenance and repair work.
The successful solution of this task became possible due to creation of the new specialized department in Aeroflot, the core of which are highly qualified specialists with competence and long-term work experience in this area of activities both at Russian design airlines and at the Russian centers of the largest foreign airlines.
Their knowledge and professional skills allow them to develop solutions that are not covered by the typical procedures of the aircraft manufacturer. Before external restrictions were introduced, in order to solve non-typical issues Russian airlines used to send requests to aircraft manufacturer or other Western organizations having developer certificates in foreign jurisdictions, which developed repair or modification schemes. Now it is possible to solve a large part of these issues with the help of Aeroflot specialists working in close cooperation with MRO organizations, other development companies, research enterprises, as well as the aviation authorities of the Russian Federation.
The receipt of the certificate brings Aeroflot to a new level of provision of comprehensive engineering and technical support in the maintenance of airworthiness of foreign manufactured aircraft operated by Aeroflot Group and other air carriers of our country.
