In Komsomolsk-on-Amur, a visiting session of the Steering Committee for External Cooperation of the SJ-100 project took place, where representatives of key Russian suppliers were briefed on the progress of PJSC Yakovlev’s investment programme. This was reported by the UAC (United Aircraft Corporation) press office.
The programme envisages the expansion of production capacity, including the final assembly hall, which will be re-equipped into a straight-through assembly line, as well as the construction of a logistics centre and an additional hangar, designed for two aircraft. These measures are intended to ensure uninterrupted serial production of aircraft upon certification completion.
Andrey Soynov, Director of the Production Centre at PJSC Yakovlev, presented the current status of work on the prototype and production examples of the SJ-100. He drew attention to problematic areas requiring enhanced oversight from the cooperation network to prevent supply delays.
“As of today, the prototype aircraft 95157 [MSN 97012, FSN 95157 – note by ‘Aviation of Russia’] is being prepared for PD-8 engine ground runs, and the first production aircraft 97004 is already powered up. A total of 11 production airframes have been assembled, which will be retrofitted with domestic systems and units after their certification,” the UAC statement said.
A key element of the expansion of PJSC Yakovlev’s production infrastructure in Komsomolsk-on-Amur will be the logistics centre. The area of the centre will be approximately 10,000 square metres. The centre will be designed for the storage and preparation of PD-8 engines for installation on SJ-100 aircraft. The investment in the construction of the logistics centre will amount to 2.3 billion roubles.
