Belavia expects to start production of MS-21 and SJ-100 airplanes and is negotiating with the United Aircraft Corporation on their purchase. This was announced by CEO of the airline Igor Cherginets at a press conference in connection with the Day of Civil Aviation Workers, which is celebrated in Belarus annually on the first Sunday of November, this year – November 5.

“If we talk about the prospects of the airline’s fleet, then yes, we are now ordered to Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and other manufacturers. There are not that many of them. We are conducting very tight negotiations, preparing agreements with the United Aircraft Corporation of Russia for the purchase of MS-21 and Sukhoi Superjet 100 New airplanes,” Cherginets said at the press conference.

“We are waiting for these airplanes to be produced in Russia, they are already being tested with different engines. According to the latest data, in 2024-2026 these airplanes should “stand on the wing”. We hope to take these airplanes and perform flights on them then,” added Belavia CEO.

According to him, Belavia’s air fleet has 13 airplanes, with their average age exceeding 11 years, which is a good indicator. “The average age of airplanes is 11.2 years, it’s quite a good indicator. Western-made airplanes in principle can be operated almost indefinitely. The only thing is that there is such a concept as airworthiness,” Igor Cherginets added.
