The Aviation Training Centre (ATC) of RATA has completed the training of the first group of 22 aircraft maintenance specialists for the operation of the MS-21-310 aircraft. This is reported by the TG channel Notes of Aircraft Builders.

The first group of trainees consisted mainly of employees of the Yakovlev aviation-technical complex in Zhukovsky, who are currently engaged in the maintenance of SSJ-100 aircraft. Employees of Red Wings Airlines and the Akademiya 033 aviation training centre were also trained. “This is proactive work, so that by the time the aircraft is certified in its Russian guise, we will already have the personnel ready to service it,” said Yakovlev CEO Andrey Boginsky.

According to him, the process of preparing to receive the first trainees included the development of operational documentation, training programmes and materials, as well as coordination with civil aviation authorities on the order of training and the composition of the teaching staff.

Work on training future MS-21 maintenance specialists began immediately after Yakovlev received approval for major changes to the aircraft’s type certificate, allowing the use of domestic composite materials for the wing and PD-14 engine. In January this year, RATA ATC was certified to provide training programmes for specialists involved in the maintenance of the MS-21-310.

The Russian Air Training Academy (RATA) of PJSC Yakovlev was opened at the Skolkovo Innovation Centre in September 2023. The centre is one of the main sites for training civil aviation pilots for new domestically produced aircraft and offers more than 70 training programmes. To date, Skolkovo already has a full-flight simulator and an emergency rescue training simulator for the SSJ100 aircraft, which were previously located at the Gromov Research Institute in Zhukovsky.
