The Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) has expanded the scope of approved activities for UEC-STAR (a Perm-based subsidiary of United Engine Corporation), adding serial production of electronic units for the PD-8 engine automatic control system. The United Engine Corporation (UEC) press office reported the update.

The decision follows an audit of the production organization conducted by the regulator’s commission. The audit covered workshops and units involved in component manufacturing, as well as supplier management, production processes, and product testing. Rosaviatsiya specialists also assessed design documentation control and compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations.

The updated Production Organization Approval (POA) certificate includes the RED-8 electronic control unit and the BZD-8 protection unit for the PD-8 engine. These components are part of the SAU-8 automatic control system. Both units had previously received component airworthiness approvals.

The control system also comprises a data storage unit, a fuel metering unit, an engine actuation module, a pump assembly, and a fuel bypass valve. The design uses domestically sourced materials and a Russian electronic component base.

UEC-STAR received its Production Organization Approval certificate in 2020. The expanded scope enables the company to move to serial production of electronic units alongside other engine control system components.

The PD-8 engine is developed and manufactured by UEC-Saturn (Yaroslavl Region). It is intended for the Superjet 100 aircraft family and for the prospective re-engining of the Be-200 amphibious aircraft.
