After analysing the situation in the Middle East, the Federal Air Transport Agency has updated recommendations for flights in the airspace of Israel, Iran and Iraq. The agency reports in its TG channel.
‘On 2 October, due to the threat to flight safety, the agency recommends Russian operators to perform flights to/from airports in Israel and Iran, as well as flights in the airspace of Israel, Iran and Iraq from 15:30 to 19:00 Moscow time,’ the report says.
Also in Rosaviatsia recommended on Thursday, 3 October, to carry out flights in the period from 09:00 to 19:00 Moscow time. When travelling over the Middle East, it is necessary to show increased vigilance, as well as to choose alternative routes, which are offered by the aviation authorities of the relevant states for safety purposes.
Earlier Rosaviatsia recommended Russian airlines to refrain from flights to Israel, Iran and Iraq until a special order.
Due to the complicated political situation in the Middle East, carriers are forced to take bypass routes to the Persian Gulf countries, the Maldives and some other countries, including refuelling, for example, at airports in Central Asia. This increases fuel consumption and travelling time, which inevitably leads to additional costs. For example, the flight from Moscow to Dubai will take 2.5 hours longer, writes TourDom.ru.
