Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Gennady Abramenkov said on April 14, 2026, at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy that, at the current pace of certification credit flights of the import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft, certification will be completed within the next two to three months, according to TASS.
“We are currently averaging about 25 certification credit flights per month on this aircraft. At this rate, we expect to complete all certification flights within two to three months,” Abramenkov said.
Serial production continues at the Yakovlev Production Center in Komsomolsk-on-Amur (United Aircraft Corporation’s civil aircraft manufacturing site). According to the deputy minister, 26 out of 42 contracted aircraft are at various stages of completion. The first 12 units are in an advanced stage. The production schedule is aligned with the certification timeline.
Completion of the SJ-100 test campaign and issuance of the Type Certificate (TC) depend on the final phase of testing of the PD-8 engine and the closure of regulator findings. As of April 2026, the SJ-100 has completed a substantial portion of its flight test program. Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) previously indicated July 2026 as a target date.
Certification of Russia’s key civil aircraft programs is expected in 2026. The closest to completion is the Il-114-300 turboprop regional aircraft. Its flight test campaign is complete, with 336 certification credit flights performed. All compliance documentation has been submitted to the certifying authority.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade allows for possible schedule adjustments for the import-substituted SJ-100. However, the baseline target remains 2026. According to the ministry, the aircraft has completed more than 77% of its flight test program—176 out of 227 certification credit flights. Final certification will depend on issuance of the Type Certificate for the PD-8 engine. After that, the program will enter the final phase of aircraft-level testing, Minister Anton Alikhanov said at the International Transport and Logistics Forum in early April.
