Aurora Airlines has disclosed the preliminary quantitative demand of regions and subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District for LMS-901 Baikal light multipurpose local line aircraft.

According to the agreement of intentions signed within the framework of WEF-2023, 95 LMS-901 aircraft are to join the fleet of the unified Far Eastern airline in 2026-2030, the press service of the State Transport Leasing Company reports.

It is planned to operate five aircraft of this type in the Republic of Buryatia, 25 aircraft in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), 17 aircraft in Khabarovsk Krai, 14 aircraft in Zabaikalsky Krai, five aircraft in Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, 14 aircraft in Amur Oblast and two aircraft in Jewish Autonomous Oblast.

The constituent entities of the Russian Federation have determined the preliminary need, taking into account the volume of work in each direction, and signed memoranda of understanding with the airline, which will negotiate with aircraft manufacturers and form plans based on these agreements.

Their signatures in the memoranda of understanding were put on the one hand by the management of Aurora and on the other hand by the governors and representatives of the Governments of the Republics of Buryatia and Sakha (Yakutia), Khabarovsk and Transbaikal Territories, Chukotka Autonomous District, Amur Region and Jewish Autonomous Region. Memorandums are planned to be signed with the remaining subjects of the Far Eastern Federal District in the near future.

Baikal certification is scheduled for 2024, but the aircraft is yet to replace the Czech-American GE H80 engine used for testing with the Russian VK-800 engine under development.
