The Army Aviation of the Russian Air and Space Forces has received and continues to receive new helicopters this year, including the modernised Mi-26T2B heavy production helicopter. Major General Igor Romanov, head of the army aviation, told the Red Star newspaper in an interview.

“The aircraft fleet of the army aviation is annually renewed due to the arrival of new and modernised aircraft. This year we have already received and continue to receive Ka-52M, Mi-28NM, Mi-8AMTSh-V, Mi-8MTV-5M, and Mi-26T2B helicopters,” he said.

Romanov noted that the industry delivers aircraft to the army aviation in a timely manner in accordance with the plan. According to him, there are no schedule disruptions.

The Mi-26T2B is a heavy transport helicopter with a payload capacity of 20 tonnes. The vehicle is equipped with an integrated complex of onboard radio electronic equipment NPK90-2V, which allows it to perform automatic flight along the route with exit to a predetermined point and landing approach.

The first flight of the Mi-26T2B took place in August 2018. In March 2019, Russian Deputy Defence Minister Alexei Krivoruchko said that the military department would buy ten such helicopters.
