Today at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, the operation to connect the front fuselage section and compartment F3 of the tenth serial set of the MS-21 aircraft began. This was reported in the Telegram channel Notes of Aircraft Builders.

“The compartments of the future airliner were transferred from supplier shops, their incoming inspection was carried out, after which the employees of workshop No. 246 started connecting the units at station PF10.2. Initially, the connection of compartments F1 and F2 was made in the unit. For this purpose, they were aligned and fittings were installed. At the final stage, sealing and installation of the “combat” fastening were completed,” the message said.

The connection of the compartments of the front fuselage of the tenth serial aircraft was completed at the end of March, and in early April, compartment F3 arrived in the workshop. Upon completion of their connection, protective covers and equipment will be installed on the structure.

The comprehensive aviation industry development program until 2030 envisages that from 2025 to 2029, the Irkutsk Aviation Plant should gradually increase the assembly rate from 12 to 72 MS-21 aircraft per year. Employees of workshop No. 246 are preparing for an increase in production volumes, and to meet the set goals, parallel assembly of fuselage compartments was carried out in 2023, during which specialists practiced two parallel connections.

The experience gained is now being applied in practice. In the future, when the flow of fuselage compartments into the unit reaches the required pace, parallel assembly of units will become mandatory.
