According to Rosaviatsia, a Superjet 100 (RA-89085) of Azimut Airlines caught fire on 24 November after landing at Antalya airport (Turkey). There were no fatalities or casualties.
Passengers and crew members of Azimut Airlines’ Superjet 100 aircraft have been evacuated. Turkish Airporthaber reports that according to preliminary data, the fire occurred in the engine, the rescue team of Antalya airport managed to quickly extinguish the fire of the aircraft.
Superjet 100 with registration number RA-89085 was performing a flight on the Sochi-Antalya route. The flight and landing approach were performed normally. The aircraft landed in Antalya at 21:34 local time, coinciding with Moscow time. The press service of Azimut Airlines said that the fire occurred as a result of a rough landing due to wind shear.
‘On 24 November 2024, a rough landing occurred during landing of an Azimut Airlines aircraft flying flight A45051 Sochi – Antalya as a result of wind shear. The commander decided to evacuate the aircraft using inflatable ladders. The passengers were safely delivered to the airport terminal. There were no casualties. Azimut Airlines is currently preparing a reserve aircraft for the return flight A45052,’ the carrier said in a statement.
Information about the condition of passengers and crew, as well as the degree of damage to the aircraft is being clarified. Rosaviatsia is looking into the incident, the agency said.
On 2 February 2021, the same flight from Nizhny Novgorod to Rostov-on-Don returned to the airport of departure due to a malfunction of the right engine. There were 84 passengers on board and the landing went smoothly.
