On September 17, 2025, Aeroflot operated its first scheduled flight from Moscow to Krasnodar after a three-year suspension. The flight, SU1256, was served by a narrow-body Airbus A321, the largest aircraft in the A320 family. Strong demand for travel to the Kuban capital was reflected in the fully booked flight, according to the airline’s press service.
Upon arrival at Krasnodar International Airport (Pashkovsky), named after Catherine II, the aircraft was greeted with a traditional water salute. The inaugural flight was attended by representatives from the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya), regional and city authorities, airport management, and media outlets. Passengers were welcomed by a Cossack ensemble performing traditional Kuban songs.

Aeroflot plans to operate up to five daily round-trip flights between Moscow and Krasnodar. Starting September 19, daily service from St. Petersburg will commence, followed by new routes from Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Kazan, and Novosibirsk on September 27 and 28. International flights from Krasnodar to Yerevan, Istanbul, and Dubai (Al Maktoum International Airport) are scheduled to launch, with ticket sales to be announced. On September 17, Azimuth Airlines will also operate a flight from Krasnodar to Istanbul using a Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100).
In fall 2023, construction began on a new passenger terminal at Pashkovsky Airport, covering 83,000 square meters (893,000 sq ft). The main concrete and steel framework is complete, and 80% of the facade glazing has been installed. Wall construction is expected to finish by late October, with installation of connecting gallery structures to jet bridges scheduled for mid-November.
Simultaneously, preparatory work is underway on a 22-hectare (54-acre) apron with 28 aircraft stands for all types of airliners, along with new taxiways and an operations base. The airfield construction is managed by Dorogi i Mosty (“Roads and Bridges”), with completion targeted for late 2027.
Design work is also ongoing for the forecourt and a parking facility with 697 spaces, which will soon be presented to the public. The airport complex will be accessible via the M4 “Don” highway, using the existing Airport Drive and a new road from the Lenina hamlet.
The new terminal and supporting infrastructure are scheduled to open in the second half of 2027. With a budget exceeding 60 billion rubles (approx. $650 million), the project will be the largest transport development in southern Russia, tripling runway capacity and enabling the airport to serve over 7.5 million passengers annually.
