The second batch of new Su-34 frontline bombers manufactured at the Chkalov Novosibirsk Aviation Plant has been handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defence. V.P. Chkalov Novosibirsk Aviation Plant has been handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defence. This was reported by the press service of the United Aircraft Corporation.

Before flying to the place of permanent deployment, the aircraft underwent a full range of ground and flight tests.

“Su-34 frontline bombers form an important part of the striking power of the Russian frontline aviation. The aircraft has a wide range of combat capabilities, which makes it possible to use advanced aviation weapons, increase the range of hitting ground and surface targets, and improve bombing accuracy,” the UAC said.

On October 6, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the progress of the implementation of the state defence order at the Novosibirsk aircraft plant and said that the Su-34 is one of the main strike aircraft in the NWO area. The Minister set a task to the management of the enterprise to increase the pace of production and repair of the equipment taking into account the demand for the products and said that the aircraft perform four or five combat sorties a day.

The transferred batch of Su-34s was built under a three-year contract signed between the Russian Defence Ministry and UAC in June 2020 for the construction of 24 modernised Su-34M (Su-34NVO) bombers.
