The next sets of nacelle nacelles for PD-14 engines for the MS-21 aircraft are being prepared for shipment from the branch of PJSC “IL” – VASO to the Irkutsk aircraft plant. These are the final sets manufactured at the assembly plant, UAC reported

All subsequent kits from 2024 onwards will be assembled by the current centre of specialisation for nacelle production. “Over the past years, VASO’s composite and aggregate production facilities have done a lot of work – from creating the first prototypes of nose fairings and flaps of PD-14 nacelles to setting up their serial production,” said Andrei Boldyrev, head of the aggregate assembly shop.

According to him, the production and personnel of the enterprise are perfectly prepared, which played an important role in mastering the production of nacelles for the PD-14 engine. Their production was completed in less than a year. The nacelle is installed above or below the wing to accommodate the engine with its systems and attachments. It allows the engine to be enveloped by airflow, protected from external influences and accessible for maintenance. The task facing the UAC Centre of Specialisation at VASO is to put the production of nacelles for PD-14 on a stream.

Voronezh Aircraft Plant is an important co-operation link in the production of MS-21. Here, in addition to nacelles and pylons for mounting engines on the MS-21 wing, the plant produces wing-fuselage gaskets, flap rail fairings, as well as feathering parts and landing gear flaps made of polymer composite materials.
