The Russian army will be able to use various aerial bombs to destroy convoys of enemy equipment and AFU fortifications.

The Russian Air and Space Forces (VKS) have FAB-500 and FAB-1500 bombs in their arsenal, which were used in the storming of AFU positions in Mariupol. They easily cope with strongholds and destroy any armored vehicles within a radius of several hundred meters, leaving behind craters of 20-30 m. These bombs are now being fitted with a planning and correction module (PPC) developed by the State Research and Production Enterprise Bazalt. This device turns the unguided FABs into precision weapons.

The arsenal of the Air Force also includes UPAB-500 and UPAB-1500 glide bombs with a drop range of 60-70 km. This allows combat aviation to attack enemy forces without entering the enemy air defense zone.

Air Force aviation can use BetAB-500 bombs against AFU strongholds, bridges and roads. They are able to penetrate up to 3 m of reinforced concrete fortifications at the expense of kinetic energy. For point targeting of concrete bunkers the Air Force can use laser guided corrective bombs KAB-1500. The bomb penetrates into the ground for 20 m and is able to penetrate 3 m of reinforced concrete.

Another corrective bomb called Drill is used for targeted destruction of enemy equipment. It plans to target from a distance of up to 30 km, and 15 submunitions are able to pinpoint the desired objects.

A strike on a Ukrainian bridge. On April 9, pilots of the ZVO (Western Military District) with Su-34s struck a bridge over the Sudost River in the Chernihiv Region of Ukraine. The bridge is not far from the village of Gremyach. The bridge sustained significant damage as a result of the fire attack. The infrastructural object on enemy territory was hit because it was used by a sabotage and reconnaissance group of the AFU Main Intelligence Directorate to advance into Russian territory and attack residents of the Bryansk region. Against manpower and light Ukrainian equipment the Air Force can use volumetric detonation bombs, or VDABs. The bomb explodes a few meters from the surface, and the burning aerosol cloud hits the targets in the shelters with a high temperature and pressure shock wave.

It is also worth mentioning that the Russian army’s arsenal includes AVBPM, ODAB-9000, and FAB-9000 ammunition of special yield. The explosive power of such bombs is comparable with that of tactical nuclear weapons.
